Dear Parents,
I embrace the challenge of meeting the fitness needs of every child. As the Physical Education Specialist, I will continuously strive to see that each child gains the most that he/she can from Physical Education classes. Classroom instruction will be based on four essential standards: Motor Skill Development, Movement Concepts, Health-Related Fitness, and Personal/Social Responsibility. Grades will be distributed at the end of the 2nd quarter and the 4th quarter, but interims will be available per quarter.
My P.E. program goals are to foster a fun environment, for each child to progress in the maturation of skills at his/her individual rate, to provide for ultimate participation, and to promote positive self-esteem. I am concerned with the development of the whole child- physical, mental, and spiritual. Some of my objectives for your children are to increase agility, balance, confidence, cooperation, coordination, healthful attitudes, leisure time skills, mental alertness, physical fitness, sportsmanship, stamina, timing, and teamwork.
To facilitate movement and safety, appropriate dress is required. Athletic shoes in class are a must to promote safety. Also, sports-oriented clothing is encouraged. Please review the P.E. class schedule. If there is any reason that your child should not participate in P.E. class, please send a note of explanation that day. I would also like to be notified if your child has any condition of which I need to be made aware and if he/she is limited in engaging in particular activities. I firmly believe that a good movement foundation in the elementary years can lead to a healthy, confident person who loves physical activity for a lifetime. I very much look forward to working with your children and meeting each one of you.
Sincerely,
Dominic Hardy
